What do you think would make the best biofuel? Biofuel can be made out of corn, wood, weeds, and alcohol.

yes for weeds we dont have to invest any money to produce them, hence they may become more desirable alternatives to produce ethanol and other biofuels in future. the other thing notable is Brazilian ethanol is derived from sugar and that country recently reduced subsidies to sugar farmers. agricultural crops like corn, sugarcane, sugarbeet involves high cost of production whereas ethanol can be produced from woodwaste, sawdust, wood by products, that are still better, but weeds as biofuel has the largest potential

another good idea is using biowaste from corn plants and other plants. we don't eat all of the corn plant. we only eat the seeds. the green stems, roots, 'silk', and the center, i don't know what it's called are good targets for biofuel. just about any form of nonpoisonous rubbish is a good target for biofuel, such as non-edibles from sugar plants as the brazilians capitalized on. considering the instability of the oil suplying region, it is a good idea to up our priority for biofuel!

your very welcome. the leaders of this nation troll the web, believe it or not, or have people troll the web to see what their constinsuants are thinking.

I think our country has invented also a biodiesek made from coconut, commonly known as coco-biodiesel. Our government are backing it up and promoting it, for others to be more aware of it's environment-friendly benefits. It is also being showcased as one of the cheapest, but also one of the safest natural fuel to use.

craftycorner You have an interesting discussion goung. Yoou are suggesting using corn to make biofuel. You are suggesting using the stalks and husks to make the biofuel. Did you know that the corn stalhs and hsks are used to feed livestock.(cows & pigs) In Nebraska they raise sugar beets to be made into sugar. When the sugar is extracted beet pulp is left. That and the leaves are fed to cattle and sheep in place of grass during the winter. Now, where do you purpose that they get the weeds for the biofuel from. I lived in Nebraska farm country and I never saw enough weeds to be used as a biofuel on a big mass? Just some more thing to think about. Now your grocery stores might throw away throw awat enough spoiled produce to make some biofuel. They won't let any one take it to make compost nor let it be feed to pigs. I would say that is a better option then the other two Corn stalk or weeds. Did you know that there is enough grain fed to cattle to feed a great number of people it takes 7 lbs of grain to 2 lbs of beef. Where is the economie in that? we could ta,kke that grain and put it into biofuel.

You'd be surprised at how many plants can be grown in how little space. There is also a fair bit of waste ground in the United States that isn't suitable for building on or for growing crops. Switch grass and other weeds will grow where they can shove down a root. Even side walks aren't safe from them. And when we start discussing bacteria, it gets just insane. It's possible bacteria can be farmed for fuel. There are harmless, prolific varieties that grow well in vats. There's also mold, fungus, and varius other things in the plant family I'm sure the white coats are looking at as things get twitchy in the middle east. Your right about the beef vs. corn. Unfortionately, steak isn't going away anytime soon.

I dont know to much about it. I do wish someone could figure out how to make it out of leaves. I live out in the country. During the fall, we have so many leaves falling that they will be above the ankle deep or higher.

guarden waste, which the leaves you speak of, is a very good source of biofuel, but is more complex to make than corn biofuel but not impossible if our government puts the energy and money into it. all we must do is write our congressmen and women and really bug them about it. running out of oil is not only an energy problem but a problem of national security. much oil comes from unstable parts of the world that breeds terrorists such as bin ladin.

I don't know much about biofuel but i think it is good substituent for our regular fuels like diesel and petrol as they are about to end.i think all the countries should more concentrate on biofuel production,as it is helpfull for all the people. i think if production of biofuel is increased then it is no longer the time that it could take of regular fuels.

yes. however, they should focus on biofuels that do not indanger the food supply. a good example is using switchgrass. you and i don't eat that...thus we don't take from anyone's dinner.

Funny, I think about couple of years back, the police here find out some cars using certain cooking oil for car fuel....hehehe...much cheaper than normal gasoline And now it is forbidden to use cooking oil for car fuel....but I'm sure people will find another things to use as a fuel, it's just a matter of time before the police finds out....

Government rules and regs, probably wasn't too good for the air either being as we don't know what the oil did coming out of the tail pipe. I just wish switch grass would catch on, or de-stunk elephant crap. (They take the stink factor out of elephant and other kinds of poop and make it a fuel.)

Another good one would be Hemp it used to grow as a weed all over the world adn is growen commercially in europe it helps recondition the soil for farmers meaning less chemicals are needed and has a high oil content. it grows very rapidly and can be harvested in 6-8wks

tell me about it. sounds much better than the corn option. unless they use the non-edibles of the corn plant which there's a lot of.
