Does anyone know if there are any bad side effects for stopping Klonopin? I take 1 mg a day before bed to put me to sleep. I have been for about a year. If I stop, will I have long term side effects, or is that dose not enough to create any effects after a week or two?

No, it doesn't cause any long-term side effects. The only concern I have with benzodiazepenes (the class of medicine this is in, including xanax and valium) is the likeliness of tolerance. But since you are stopping, that is irrelevant. I would assume that if you take it for anxiety, those feelings would come back. If you feel like you no longer need it, that's really good. I've seen people get addicted and it is not a good thing. Also, 1 mg is really not that high of a dosage. Of course, though, consult your doctor. While I have been on klonopin since I was 14, chemicals work differently on different people. I've read a lot about benzodiazapenes, but by no means am I licensed to really be a trustworthy source. I hope this at least calmed your mind slightly; but I guess that's the only thing I can really tell you.
