Yes it really affects the companies...think of all the music that is illegally downloaded daily on the internet. You know how much money that is to record companies? Think about every 10-12 songs is probably 1 CD right? well thats about $10...and think about how many songs get downloaded daily...thats A LOT of money. The fact that it's just not music, its also movies, and software & what not. Its a lot of stuff & some of it can be pricey. If people stop paying for their music & keep downloading it for free...the record companies would go out of business and then we would have nobody to produce the muisc we all love so much.

it's natural that people having legitimate and decent business wouldn't want their products be pirated nor counterfeited. even a loss of $1 could mean a lot to a business owner who barely survives a day.
