Water salinity, water condition, ph balance, fingerling stocks, fish health & fish food are basic attributes to physical smell, good taste and better texture. Evidently, bangus from Pangasinan are commercially more abundant & readily marketed than the rest of other fish growers in the country. The general public has limited comparison. Fish growers and fishpen owners from other Luzon, Visayas & Mindanao provinces also has their pick who has the best tasting bangus. To me, organically bred bangus have the best taste. Between Sta. Cruz, Davao del Sur town center & Franklin Baker Company is a small scale seaside fishpen which is naturally spring fed has so far produce the best taste. Bangus from the Deriquito Fishfarms in Davao are also a favorite. Growing up eating Pangasinan Bonoan bangus, I have my reservations.
