The Army accuses him of betraying his fellow soldiers. At a court martial that began Monday at Fort Lewis, south of Seattle, the 28-year-old faces four years in prison if convicted on one count of missing movement and two counts of conduct unbecoming an officer for refusing to ship out with his unit, the 3rd Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division. Watada, who joined the military in March 2003, has spoken out against U.S. military involvement in Iraq, calling it morally wrong and a breach of American law What do you think of this? Would you do the same? or Would you feel he let his fellow soldiers down?

Well he signed up for the Army and got his education he is an officer he took the oath to obey all orders of those appointed above him. so he deserves what he gets. If he gets 4 years he is getting off lucky he deserves more. I am retired Navy and was always told to obey all orders weather I though they were wrong or not. then follow the chain of command after the fact.

I come from a long line of Patriots. Most of the men in my family has served the military in one branch or the other. When you join the military there is always a possibility of war. There is no draft he had a choice to join or not. when he chose to join he chose to serve in peace and in war. I think he let down his fellow soldiers. They are going and risking their lives while he sits save here at home. Why did he join up just to get a free education? If this is the reason he needs to pay the military back for that education. I think it takes special people to give up a part of their lives to protect the safty of the American people. I am sure there are many who will disagree with me because they are against the war.

I think it is wrong for them to go to Iraq and that soldiers should have a choice where they work. There isn't any other proffession where you are forced to go somewhere and will be put to prison if you don't. I think its very unfair.
