How come I'm not bald?

I think I should be bald... I have fairly long hair, and it's pretty thick, but every morning when I shampoo and condition my hair, quite a bit of it falls out. I always have to pick a bunch of hair out of the drain every morning. I always wonder why I'm not bald by now, I didn't think hair grew back fast enough to keep this much left on my head. Does hair really replace itself that fast???

Heya Reinydawn, I so know where you are coming from. I too have really thick and quite long hair. I have always wondered how I can pull handfuls of hair from my head when I'm washing it or brushing it and not be bald. My hair does grow pretty fast but it seems unfathomable that it can grow that fast! Im seriously talking at least 3 handfuls of hair every day and its been going this way since i was like 16 and I still seem to have the same amount of hair. Weird! Tanika.

My wife has wonderful hair but it is everywhere, too. It has to do with the chemical makeup of being a women. Your hormones affect hair loss much differently than it does men. Your body continues to grow new hair folicles just like a child much longer than if you were a man. Be thankful. You could be bald. You don't want that.

I do know some women who are going bald, I just don't see how I can't be one of them. Today while I was drying my hair, I noticed a patch of really short hair - I guess it all fell out at the same time in the same spot!

Supposedly, on average hair grows about a half of an inch a month. They say it can vary a little depending on age, health, genetics and such. That doesn't seem like much. I know exactly what you mean.I have to clean it from the drain catch when I wash it. But,I also seem to lose it every where else.I have long hair. It's not exacly thin, either. We vaccum our carpet and furniture often. Some of the reason is because my hair gets all over.Sometimes I wonder who sheds more, me or the dog.You will even find my hair in the van. My grandkids love grandma's hair. It's not enough that it ends every place on it's own.The grandkids are always rubbing my hair and end up with strands in their hands; and on their blankies.LOL! I can't explain how I still have so much hair still. At the average rate of growth, it doesn't seem logical.

Oh yeah, I forgot about the hair OUTSIDE of the bathtub... My husband finds hair on his shirts and even underwear all the time. The seat in my car has TONS of hair... And how can we forget about that horrid loose strand that's stuck to the inside of our blouse and tickling our backside all day long??? People would laugh at me at my last job because I would reach down the front of my shirt and get a loose strand out of my bra all the time!!!
