We take drugs which don't need prescription for small health problem. Though we can buy those drugs without prescription in drug store, they advice us to ask docotor before taking that drugs. So, if you take such drugs do you really ask your doctor before start to use that particular drug?

No, I don't ask a doctor if the medicine is non-prescription medicine. But then, I'm so shy that I haven't even been to see a doctor in years, so I pretty much have to self-medicate as much as possible, anyway. I usually do a lot of research on the intenet before I try something, even for something that isn't supposed to have any particular bad side-effects. I just like to know what I am getting into before I spend money on a particular remedy! ^_^

This is so true. Before surgery they even want to know any herbal treatments that you take. They can interfer with blood clotting after surgery. Many say that herbs are safe but my neorologist said none are truely safe. They are not FDA approved so they do not have the same amount of ingredients in each bathch. No matter what the label says.

I did not know that before surgery they ask about the herbs also.

No I don't normally ask a doctor on them. I will look at the ingredients, directions and things you shouldn't take together. If though I'm looking for something to help with a problem that I don't know what to buy I will ask the pharmacist to recommend something. Of course if later I have a problem I'll let me doctor know about it so we can find out why and what to avoid in the future.

I try not to take any medication if I can avoid it. If I do need something, I tend to go for herbal, and natural remedies such as zinc, or garlic, for treating a cold. All medicatons have side effects of some kind or another, and I think the more you take things like anti-biotics for mild infections, the less likely they are to work if you really need them for something serious later on.

Like you I also think that we should avoid medicine as much as we can. For small health problem herbs are the best.

Yes i'll definitely enquire my doctor before taking such kinds of medicine . Because there will different kind of companies which manufacture medicines . Each company has its own way and own quality of medicines . so, it's better to enquire about the medicine which u will take . Some are out of expire date . so , before taking medicines better enquire ur doctor and see manufacture date.

Hi, If I am sick I make my own medicine from plants. Please don 't tell me how dangerous it is. I am a botanist. Without people like me... doctors wouldn't have medicine to dispense. From what I see today, most doctors do it for the money. Not to help people. Why should I give the doctor my money when I know my symptoms better than they do.

I really am not a pill or over the counter type of person. I use natural remedies. But you have to be aware of what you are buying with those as well. I make my own or get them from a reliable source.

I do take medicines for cold, cough, loosemotions and headaches without prescription. But I make it a point that if I am not recovering in a day or two,I do visit a doctor and tell him the medicines I have taken to be on the safer side.
