Do you have a phobia?

Lightening - Terrified of storms

OK - I admit it! I have a total phobia about thunder and lightening! I'm not just scared of it, I am terrified, and hide under the stairs crying whenever there's a storm - luckily not so many here in the UK! I have tried hypnotherapy, and taking valium, and herbal remedies, but nothing works for me. So - come on - admit it - do you also have a real fear or phobia, and, if so, - what is it?

I think dpides is the other most common phobia apart from snakes. I think they're quite cute actually! Once I had a boyfriend who was so scared of them, that I had to take them out of the bath, and remove them from the house, because he was too scared to touch them! LOL!

i have both phobias, or heights and spiders.... also snakes....... my phobia for heights... its not so much going up in an aircraft.. i do that very often, but standing on the edge of a 6 foot drop ot higher.... not very likely, have done it before, but i was just so frightened.... that was a few years ago...... but i have found that just going for it is a way i am starting to control it..... through a youth group (ATC) i have been on numerous assault courses, and always had many friends around me urging me on....... for me, the thing look a little scary ont he ground, but on them..... much worse, but once done, not too bad :D

My phobia is dying. I think I speak for almost every human being. That's why I try to live and enjoy life to the fullest weather it be spiritual, emotional or superficial contentment. That's why I have a saying "life is nothing, living is everything."

Well, I know my Mother was afraid of thunder, so I guess I maybe picked that up from her when I was a young child.

well, i don't really have any phobia that can make me sick and have to take medication... but the only thing that can really make me scared is driving... i have an accident twice when i am driving by my own and also i have an accident once when my friend is driving the car... i am not seriously injured... but that is enough to make me scared to drive or even sit in a car with a speeding driver...

I am terrified of heights. My husband, son and I went to the arch and I refused to go up to the top of the arch. I walked around safely on the ground while they went up. Another time we went to the carnival and they had a ferris wheel that had two one on top of the other. My husband tried to talk me to going on it. I told him he was crazy that my feet stays planted on the ground. I told him that he and Tyrone (my son) could go ahead and go but I was not getting on that thing. Anyplace that is high above the ground I will not go. The funny thing about it is unless the person has a phobia themselves they can not understand why you are making a big deal of not doing whichever your phobia is.

Yes, I have a phobia about dolls. I find them creepy. The only dolls I can be around are the baby dolls that Walmart has in their cheapie bin, and Liddle Kiddles from the 60's and 70's. Sometimes it's hard, I have 3 daughters, and before they go to bed, I have to have all the dolls in their toyboxes where I can't see them.

I have a MILD phobia of spiders...I just hate how there eyes always seem to be staring at you, watching intently on your every move. Freaks me out. It isnt that bad that I flip out and start sweating up whenever I see one, just enough to make me grit my teeth and step on it ;)

Poor you, I can't imagine what it's like to be afraid of thunder and lightening, I love a good storm. My phobia is of crowded or cramped places, I cannot stand going shopping when there are loads of people rushing around me and the shopping centre is crowded, I feel totally cramped and it makes me feel dizzy. I also don't like confined spaces, such as going in lifts, I don't avoid them completely but if I ever got stuck in one i'd completely panic.

I have a phobia for spiders. Doesn't matter how big. It can be the size of a crumb and I shake with fear. My 21 yr. old son is the same way. So when he visits with his wife we leave it up to her to kill them. It is actually kind of a funny sight. We just scream her name as we run.

I have a fear of being sick. I really hate it. If either of my kids are sick instead of helping them my instinct is to run away as fast as I can. I want to be a teaching assistant but I can't because I couldn't cope with cleaning up the kids sick.

I love thunder and lightening actually!!! I used to be really really scared of needles but then I somehow managed to get myself a tattoo and the last time I went to get blood drawn I went in myself and didnt cry. What I am actually scared of is....THE DARK. Im 23 and hate the dark as in in my bedroom and now have to sleep with the light off cos the other week my lamp fell over and burned right through the top book of a pile and the cat had to wake up my sister cos he couldn't get in my room. Annyway to cut a long story short I'm scared of the dark.

Heck, that's common sense! Lightning can kill you! Yes, I have a phobia, and I know exactly how and when it happened. It's just nuts! When I was young, living in the country, we had an outside john. One day out there was very windy. Like, VERY windy! A tree started toppling down while I was inside, and I could hear it, right beside me, and I could NOT move!! It missed, of course, but I'm terrified of wind gusts to this day! Our house has a basement, and I will go down when we have heavy wind gusts up here! The basement needs cleaning anyhow!
