Why am I not sleeping you may ask, okay maybe not but I am going to tell you anyway.(Grin) I suffer from insomnia a symptom of my PTSD(Post Traumatic Stress Disorder). I can go for days getting no more than a couple of hours sleep a night.(Let's just say I am not pretty to look at and easy to be around when this happens..laugh)It makes life difficult at times. My questions to you are as follows; Do you or have you ever had insomnia? Is so what do you do to entertain yourself during those sleepless nights? Any tricks that you use to help you get to and stay asleep? Help a poor ole sleepless lady out and share your wisdom1 (laughing)

You do have PTSD. You have insomnia. Are you taking anti=depressants? I cannot take anti=depressants for more than a few weeks without staying awake, unable to ever sleep. There is a solution. Have you ever tried Cymbalta? Zoloft, etc, is too strong for me. It is an anti=depressant, although the low doses can provide the rest you need, at least for a few months. It can balance your system, so sleep comes easier. It is used for depression and GAD. I do have anxiety, and did have an incident which caused PTSD. I didn't know what PTSD was, my medical condition worsened, I couln't eat or sleep right, and I increased my anxiety meds (with permission) Eventually, I got to the nurse and explained the incident which caused the increase in meds and the PTSD. She said you need PTSD treatment, and tell your PCP. I researched PTSD, and my PCP gave me Cymbalta, and eventually Ambien, to alleviate this. It worked great. I couldn't take the Cymbalta more than two months, because I couldn't sleep, and it started other symptoms, which showed its effectiveness was about peaked. Couldn't take the Ambien, am sensitive to meds, because i couldn't get out of bed. Although for these few months followed all the directions, as I didn't want the reliving experience, it was terrifying me, causing me to think it was anxiety. It was PTSD, and because I couldn't function was beginning depression, which isn't good. If you do take Cymbalta, lay down with it, as it calms your system and you can feel yourself beginning to integrate as a person, actually healing within a month. The Ambien was for the nights you are referring to. Sleep or panic. Also, try bubble baths, reading, chamomile tea, hot chocolate. Take a long walk on a flat surface after 4:30pm. Eat before 7:00pm. Don't eat too much meat, try vegetables and exercise. Try yoga, if you can't sleep, you can rest calmly.
