Why Can 18 Year Olds Go to War but no Drink until 21?

Ok so I heard some people discussing this topic today and I thought they had a very good point. 18 year olds can go to war but not drink? What is up with that. If they are able to hanle a gun and fight for the United States of America. Why cant they have a little alchol? Disscus

In Scotland ( I think i am right) we can get married at 16 but can't smoke drink or vote untill 18 now how mad is that , xx

You can thank your president's daughters for that, Before they went on their wild spring fling a few years back, 18 year olds could drink legally, but after their much reported flingwith thesecret service in tow, dubya decided to attatch federal health( I think it was health, maybe education) funding to drinking age, If the states didn't lower the age to 18, they didn't get the funds. So basically, your state was blackmailed into sucking up to the president's morality squad.
