what is windows vista all about?

its been long there is windows vistas on the news ,magazines,and internet. can anybody tell me exactly how this is gonna change our life ,and whats so important about it. all the new softwares are gearing up with vista is it really such a taboo ,what it is advertized for? if vista is sucessful ,would it be monopoly of windows and their progrrames?
