I am definitely a city guy at heart, always have been. Oh, I enjoy the countryside, nature, and quaint villages etc, but I am always happy to get back to the beat, the throb, the bustle of the big city - it's in my blood I guess. Of all the cities I've lived in and/or visited, I have to say that San Francisco is my favourite. There's a certain magic about that place for me - it's no wonder that so many Hollywood movies are made there........ It's such a fascinating place - the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz, the deserted island prison that carries such an atmosphere, the locale for so many prison break films. Then there's Fisherman's Wharf, the fantastic seafood market, the cable cars which rattle up and down the roller-coaster hills, Chinatown, etc etc.........dammit, I'm beginning to sound like a travelog! Of course, SF has it's dark underbelly too, and I've also experienced some of that - but what large city hasn't? Seattle, London, Paris, Singapore, Hong Kong, Toronto - all great cities, but in the end, for me San Fran takes top honours......... Now, what is your favourite city?

I have heard it's a wonderful place, and I'd love to visit there one day. I just returned from Sedona Arizona where my boyfriend is, and I plan to go back again, as soon as I can get there.

It's a great place to start a tour of the Pacific Coast too. When you go, hire a car and travel down Highway 1, which runs down the coast to LA - it's great!

Actually all cities have their own charms and beauty and distince by itself. I've only so far travelled mainly to cities from Asia + Melbourne - from homecountry's city - Kuala Lumpur (KL) to Jakarta, Bangkok, Seoul, Singapore, Hong Kong, and a few cities in China... not to forget the smaller cities in each country like Penang (Malaysia)... With each having its own uniqueness, it's hard to define my favourite city. My aim is to live in all of these places and keep on traveling! You are right - cities are like people in that each has it's own personality, and each it's pluses and minuses. I must admit that I have a great love of South East Asia, partly because, being a Westerner, the culture is so different from what we are accustomed to. I too have been to KL, Bangkok, Singapore, Hong Kong, Penang..............and loved them all. So far unfortunately I have never been to Australia - that's next on the list! All the best, and thanks.

I have only visited San Francisco once. It was wonderful! However, I could never live there. I grew up on a farm and just can't handle all that traffic and all those people all the time. *S* I have been to many cities, all of which have great attributes....Dallas, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Miami, Salt Lake City, Albuquerque, etc....I just could never personally live in any of them. Heck, the largest major town near us (Omaha) is in the process of annexing a smaller town closer to us, a town of a little less than 10,000....that will make Omaha less than 5 miles away....I'm already resigned to sell my home as soon as I can fiesably do that so that I can move farther away or let one of our children live in it at a rent of next to nothing, so I can live elsewhere. If I had to pick my favorite city, it would be Las Vegas. I do not gamble to speak of, so that is not the reason. I like that there are all types of cultural activities, activities for children, shows, clubs and superb restauraunts available in one central location. Plus the shopping is fabulous compared to what I have available to me here.

My favorite city is my home town of MELBOURNE Australia. I haven't lived there for almost 6 years but I miss it intensely. It's such a great place to live on so many different levels and there's no accident it keeps getting voted most liveable city in the world - occasionally dropping to second place on technicalities before jumping up again to reclaim its rightful place. Everything about Melbourne is so wonderful from the people, the culture, the sidewalk cafes, the beachside eateries, the pace, the attitude, the options, the freedom, the diversity. It's not a place you could "visit" and get a real sense of, but to "live" there is a beautiful inspiration.

Hi - yes, I think wherever we go, our home town always has a special draw for us - I feel that way about London, and I haven't lived there for 25 years! Unfortunately I have never had the opportunity to see Australia, but I intend to correct that as soon as possible. Melbourne sounds just like my kind of place! Best regards.
