I think a spell check on mylot can help to improve the discussions.I myself find making spelling mistakes while typing discussions.A spell check will be able to spot our mistakes easily. This is my opinion. What do you all think?

I posted this exact topic just a few days ago, you should really use the search function before starting new topics. I thought the same thing, but then i downloaded the latest version of Mozilla and found it comes with a built in spell check feature.

It could have its advantages certainly if there was a spell check available, but it will not help with punctuation and grammer in most instances, not unless it was more than a normal spell check. The other problem I can foresee is what version would myLot use, because different countries actually spell the same word, but with some slight variation. Examples are that the US spells it "color" whereas in the UK and Australia (to name 2 countries that I know) spell it with as "colour". It might not be a major thing, but for me it would be annoying because I try to spell things properly, as least what is correct to me anyway. In addition, with a spell check everyone would have to be more diligent because they could end up with mistakes in their typing, because many spell checkers will change a word that they don't recognise. Another example just there, because with some spell checkers "recognise" would actually be spelt as "recognized". I suspect that after a while many people would find having a spell checker could be more of a hindrance than a help. :)

I agree with you. Spell Check could help us improve mylot discussions. Texting influence us the way we spell words as shortcut then it became a habit that the way we text is our way in responding forums, right?

Brilliant idea! Since we can't copy and paist from Word or similar I think a spell is a must. Also, people say for responses to be good they must be in proper English with correct spelling, punctuation and grammer. Having a spell check would help this.

Nice thought but, as most of us use the sms or chat language, it might be a pain to start changing all over again. It should be kept as an option, not mandatory.
