When I'm still working as an employee, yup I used to obey my boss if it is work related, otherwise it's another story. I would rather say that "I must" obey him always because how I'm being paid for.

i obey mine regardless, but circumstances being what they are.. i obey Him in all things.. or try to anyway.. i do slip sometimes and then i reap the consequences of those actions.

You are right. Many bosses are immensely pleased to have staff members who listen to them rather than talk back, pointing out boss's mistakes etc. If this ego is satisfied, there will not be any conflict in office work, though the same thing cannot be said of progress in the firm. The real boss is one who gives opportunity to his subordinates to express their opinions (not listening to stories about personal behaviour of others), he becomes more popular and successful boss.

Yes, I don't think 'obey' is a proper word. In fact, most people may respect their boss and then they will do what a company need them do!

i do obey my immediate boss without argument.. now the station owner i do like to argue with him... just as he likes to argue with me. i have the utmost respect for both of them, but i just will not argue with my immediate boss for personal reasons.
