i wanna know what's the average age that people leave home and start their own life without the help of their parents but have the blessing to leave home and work for themselves? if you ask me, when you graduate college and have a job. somewhere like 21-22.

I guess you are right. I was 21 when I left home to take on a first job at a different city. I was away from home for about 6 months until I decided to quit taking on a job just near where my mom was living. So I moved again with her. I permanently moved out from home when I was 24 when I relocated again because of work. I had ever since lived on my own up to the time I got married and raised a family of my own.

I was 17 when I graduated high school and left for the Marines. I really had no other choice because my mom was not only abusive but she wanted to charge me $300 a month rent to live in my own home! She just did this to drive me away because she knew I would be in school full-time. It was a good choice but I still resent her for being a bad mom in general and making me take off with all that baggage.

I had just turned 18. I had been working for several years so it was the next natural step. I didn't go to college. Later I did take some college courses, but for my own use - not toward a degree. I bought my first house when I was 25. And didn't get married until I was 29.

I was 16. I went to live with my grandmother and paid her rent and help her clean the house as well as go to school. My parents were complaining that now I was working I had to pay them rent out of my $15.00 a week check from the five and dime and still buy my own clothes and school supplies. I decided my grandmother needed the money more. However, when I graduated from high school, she had put most of the rent money into savings bonds and gave them to me as a present.

I left home at 18 when I started college. I did go back that first summer because the dorms were closed. The next school year I moved into my own apartment and was on my own for the most part. I worked to pay my rent and all. I did go home that summer for a couple weeks but I took classes, too. The next year I only went home for a couple week for my brother's high school graduation. I was working full time then (quit school already). I was 19/almost 20 when I got my first apartment and that is when I moved out on my own.

I left home at the age of 19 years old with my newborn son, It was time for me to take responsiblity for my life and that of my sons. I had no problem adjusting to my new way of life, I enjoyed every moment of it. I got married when he was 4 years old. (husband was involved in his life since he was 6 months) I am now happily married with four wonderful children.

I was 26 when I left my parents home, I had been offered a flat to rent by my friends at work and I took it because it was the right time for me, I had a good job and I could easily afford the flat. I needed my independence, my own space and freedom.

I was nineteen when I moved out and started my own life. I had already gone through two years of college... I bought my own condo and moved out because I didn't want to be my parents religion anymore and I couldn't live at home if I wasn't going to be.

Well I'm 20 and will have graduated college when I'm 22 so I guess it will be then. I have a sister who's 22 and after graduating college in Dublin started working there, but she still comes home every other weekend to catch up with her friends.

I left my parents home when after they promised not to charge me rent if I did all the reg stuff I was doing before I worked. My mother charged me rent when I was almost in 20, 300+ a month plus all of the other things I did, like cook supper etc. Then she allowed my eldest half brother who had molested me to move back in. He was 29 at the time and a major looser, AND she was not charging rent. So I left, found my own apartment and lived a happier life on my own. She did not like me working or going to shcool, and I think that is why she was charging me so much, she really did not like me going to college. Oh Well, it made me a stronger person.

I was about 20. It was after I got my first job and tax return. I had gotten a pretty big refund and used it as a down payment and 1st month's rent for my own place. It was very liberating, but then I got scared being alone with me and my son. I didn't quite know what to do with myself, but then it was easy after that!

I was eighteen when I left home and moved in with my boyfriend. But I later found him to be abusive so I ended up leaving him, but after I had a baby. I took my son and left. I lived on my own up until seven years ago when I found my soulmate.

I plan to leave home about 2 years from now, that is when I'm 20-21. I think women are more mature and can take care of themselves and others more early in life. Men tend to be older to leave home, I think!

my story is a little long so i'll try to shorten as much as i can. i was living in a foster home for a while. at 16 i went back to my mother's as a test trial on the basis that i could return to my foster if things didn't work out. a week after i moved home children's aid changed their mind and told me i couldn't come back if i had problems because i was 16 but they had allready agreed to it before i left. anyway i wasn't doing good with my mother and i called my foster mom to say i coulnd't handle it anymore. she came to get me right away. she let me stay at her place for free until i was able to get on welfare and find my own place. so by the time that happened i was 17 and still in high school so that's why i didn't get a job right away and got on welfare to finish high school.
