This is what happened to me last week. I have a small moving company and i was doing delivery last week, when it was snowing and very cold. As i was in a hurry to get the job done and get home as early as possible, i left the lights on in my truck for about 2 hours. When i went to start my truck i found out that the battery was dead. I did have a booster cable, so i managed to ask a worker who was working nearby if he could help me boost my truck. He offered to help me,but to my bad luck the cable was fried and i could not boost it. So i stood there trying to flag motorist if they could help me, guess what, not even one single person stopped. After waiting for almost an hour i managed to flag a cab and asked him if he could help me. He said he would help me if i paid him $20. I refused. Then after waiting for another half an hour i flagged another cab. He said it was a standard price and he would only boost after i had paid him. Since i had no choice i paid him. I have been driving for more the 10years and i have stopped and boosted cars when people were stranded in the cold. What i want to know is, since when did it become a service? I have never thought a simple gesture of helping would become an issue about money. Has this ever happened to you? Would you ask someone money to help them? Do you think it is fair to offer to help and then ask them for money? I can never do that! What about you? Would you pay the money?

I have not boosted anyone's cars because I have not ran into anyone that needed help nor do I have cables at the moment. I had been stranded with little one in the car a few years ago and waited for the auto club to arrive. They came quickly because it was freezing and because I had a child in the car. If i had the means and saw someone that needed help. I would stop and help.

Thank for the reply. These days everyone is here only for the money. It just bugs me that people take advantage of situations like this. It would be a good idea to invest in a portable booster.

i would never ask them for money if i am at their service. its not worth to measure everything with money. but yes there are some who don't want to waste a single chace of wasting money

Thank you for the reply. I would never do that either, but there are people who would do it. Its a shame that people do it. I believe in Karma and i am sure what goes around comes around.
