Hi, I had recently found out that my drivers licence has been revoked through a diffent State which I haven't resided in over the past 3 years, Now Florida refuses to issue me another one. I wasn't planning on driving in Israel, however, we won't be up and leaving for another 2-3 months. Does it pay to persuade in trying to get my licence back or should I forget about it and sell my old car so I could have half of the rent for this month. All advise is appreciated.

I would personally see what you can do to clear up the issue. Nowadays, regardless of state you live in and where you move to, the incident will follow you around. I had a situation in college where I had a minor DMV issue (I won't get into details) and left the country for the summer on vacation. Upon arrive back to the US, customs pulled me aside and retained me because my passport was tagged. They didn't have the details, but I was retained for about 3 hours until the situation was cleared. Needless to say, I cleaned up my record really quick after that scare. They treated me as a high security risk because they didn't have all the details of my DMV infraction.

Thanks for response; it seems that my hubby who lives in a dream land doesn't think that the DMV will eventually get around to putting a tag on my passport. I guess he/we will find out the hard way.

Why did the other state revoke your license? When I lived in the USA I lived in California. I briefly moved to Seattle Washington for a bit and whil up there I never switched over my plates. As a result of this, I got parking tickets everywhere because thay hate CA plates. I refused to pay them because i did nothing wrong and they threatened to revoke my license. Turns out they couldn't! California does not allow other states to revoke their residents licenses. So I got the last laugh that time. Do you have unpaid tickets or parking tickets? If that is all you can contact the state that issued them and convince them to lift the ban on your license.

Hi, I'm glad to hear you got the last laugh. Serves them right. My licence was revoked on account of an acident I had over 3 years ago and wasn't driving with insurance. Now NY motor vehicles decided to take away my driving privledges. Florida claims they are in conjunction with NY. Aint that lovely. Believe me, I was arguing with them and didn't let this go. Til they told me to just get in contact with Albany.
