Who here can remember napster back in the day? Did you use the original napster? There are tons of p2p now a days. Why did the creator of napster get sued and these other clients don't?

napster is a internet program that lets you download music files to your computer.

I remember it, back in the day :o) I thought it was the coolest thing on the planet that I could download songs. I think the other guys don't get sued because there are copywrite warnings all over the place...

Oh yes, napster was great back in the day! Im not sure how all of the other places get away with doing the same thing these days though?

what is this napster , iam also here first time about this ,is it same like torrents or like shareware, what is this ,is it now active , i use p2p for downloading there fore it may be much useful for me

napster kept a whole lot of it's songs on a central server, the others don't. the others, they just connect user's computers. the individual pc's swap songs among each other using hash codes to find songs. the other clients just keep the hash codes in their servers, a series of numbers. that's not illeagal. the new guys are traffic cops, no more.
