Well, I did it. The job offer came in and I couldn't turn it down.

I know many of you responded to my "what would you do" question about a taking a new job and I appreciate all of the advice.
The job offer came in this morning and I couldn't turn it down. The hours are better, which no demands for overtime. The job is pretty much the same job that I'm at right now. The benefits that I lost were a few sick days a year and the ability to start accruing vacation pay immediately. The perk is that the company will pay for my insurance and that I'm paying for it where I am, albeit inexpensively. Also, the pay. It's almost a 50% pay increase compared to what I'm making right now.
So, I took the job!

Good for you !! Congratulations !!
Those benefits certainly do seem far better overall that you did have at your present job .. and a whopping 50% pay rise is a tremendous achievement .. clever old you .. you must be over the moon ...
Bet you can't wait to get started now .. but how sad to be leaving your present job .. it's always difficult to go isn't it .. do you have to give much notice, or can you leave asap?

It's funny how it's worked out actually. I insisted that I be allowed to give at least two weeks notice when I agreed to take the new job and my days off at my present job fall during the week, which allows me a couple of days before I officially start to train. But when I put in my notice at my present job, I asked my boss if its possible for me to stay on as a per diem (basically a part time, on call employee) and he said that I could! So I don't have to leave the old job to go to the new! I'm completely stoked about everything.
