A lot of people would say that the music of the Beatles is sacred, and not to be messed with. The new album Love might have been a disaster in someone else's hands, but I think George Martin was the ideal choice to do the project. Not only did he produce the original recordings, but he was one of the foremost pioneers in using recording technology as an musical artistic device in itself. Any thoughts?

I've heard about this new "Love" album, and I'm anxious to hear it for sure. Especially since George Martin (and his son) had something to do with making it. It apparantly had the approval of Mrs.George Harrison as well. Are you famaliar with the Moody Blues. I've got a cd where their music has been put to bluegrass. That was very interesting...but it wasn't half bad. I just brought that up because I was reminded of it talking about this new Beatles' cd.

I know the big songs by the Moody Blues, but I hadn't heard about the bluegrass album. There's a group that does a bluegrass version of the entire album Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd, and supposedly it's been endorsed by at least some band members. There's a hilarious bluegrass version of Snoop Dogg's "Gin and Juice" by the Gourds.

I have been a life long Beatles fan and I was skeptical when I heard "Love" on public access radio. My wife bought me the cd and I have to admit that this strikes me as the most sophisticated Beatles mix I've ever heard. It is amazing how Martin strips away all the clutter to get to the guts of a song. I can hear instruments and arrangements from different songs tying together seemlessly in ways that will boggle my mind for the rest of my life. George Martin is a huge reason the Beatles were the sucess that they were in the studios, and this is very apparent when you listen to individual artist recordings from the group members after their break-up. I'll admit that I bought "let it be...naked" in an effort to get away from the "overproduced" sound, one of my favorite albums is The White Album because it really sounds raw, like you are really there. Somehow with love though, I don't feel it's over-produced. I feel the mix sounds amazing! It really makes the Beatles music lush and powerful and somehow even new again. I recommend this album to anyone.

I love anything by the Beatles! I feel that their collective genius is all it takes to make a great album, remade, re-recorded or anything.
