I think he did. I don't htink he understands that when you say things like that there are deep meanings and value behind what you say.

I always think that if it comes out of your mouth, the thought or feeling is there somewhere within. The right thing to do is acknowledge that this is so, rather than not taking responsibility, and then apologising (if it is sincere), and then taking measures to perhaps change attitudes if this is what is required. Otherwise, people don't believe you.
