What do you think of the boys name Annakin. I know with Star Wars it has a bad rep as being Darth Vader's real name and all but it comes from the Celtic name Anahkin meaning Proud Warrior. I like the name and proud of my heritage and I was just curious what everyone thought of my upcoming Son's name.

I like it, yes I think of Star Wars when I hear it, but whenever I watched Star Wars I have always liked that name even though it is Darth Vaders name. Just don't name your other children Luke and Lea and I think it will be ok :)

I think people will think that his parents are stuck on Star Wars. But there is nothing really wrong with the name. I think it is a nice name. And if you are proud of you heritage, I would suggest that you spell it as your ancestors would...and not how Star Wars would. Congrats on the upcoming son!!! :)

Good point on the spelling.

I like it as a name. I'm not a Star Wars fan, so it has no meaning for me in that context, but I like names with origins, names that are a bit unusual, a bit interesting. This name is definitely unique, I've not encountered anyone with it. Good choice!

Sorry, that name is not my cup of tea. But if you like it, well, it's your child so more power to you. One of the great things about having kids is picking the name and if it means something special to you then great. But don't forget, he will have to live with it for life. Think long and hard about how it will affect the daily quality of his life. Congrats on your new baby boy!

I agree we have to be careful and I am a huge Star Wars fan but my wife recommended the name and when I looked it up I liked as well. Of course everyone in my family thinks it is a Star Wars reference but it was her idea I tell them and to look up the meaning. Good Thing Obi-Wan doesn't mean anything as far as I can tell. 8-)

I think it is unique and there are probably many babies who have that name now after star wars. Baby names change so much from one year to the next its hard to keep track. Anakin is a handsome name for a boy.
