It is quarter to two in the morning here, it is very cold but there is no breeze. A car alarm has screamed into life. I am lucky, it is beyond the pitch of my limited hearing but it is driving Other Half and most of the rest of the street insane. Do you love car alarms or hate them?

some can drive you crazy at times and other times ya wonder whos went off if is your or someone elses for some sound the same. and this is funny that I get this today. For I could have ripped out my daughters alarm system in car for the remote wouldnt open the doors we tried for 10 min and we opened the doors and it kept going an going but she couldnt get the car to start so we shut doors and it kept going and going off so I told her to pop the hood as I would try to taks cables off the barrey and when she did it stopped. stupid thing So we finally got to drive home but it was very annoying at the time.

I'll bet lol. The trouble is when this sort of thing happens the alarm seems to go on for much more than 10 minutes are you become more anxious for the thing to be shut off! A car alarm can also drain a battery, so I am told. Yes, you do wonder if it is yours, and we would but our has a different sound to most in the street, which is good, or we would be out there every five minutes, the rate this other one goes ballistic!

Exactly! However, you have the means to stop this annoyance and train your brother to get this sorted! An alarm that goes off too frequently needs adjusting, or the manufacturer needs sorting out. Or you could work on developing an alarm which is more likely to go off when something is really happening, which would make you a small fortune, worth thinking about!

Have a word with your local mechanic, I think there is only one wire you need to pull out to silence the thing, and hope that the car doesn't get stolen. Although from your description of the car it does not seem very likely!

I always have a moment of fear when they start but then it's just annoying, don't think I've ever heard one go off in my street so I suppose we are lucky (or poor).

You may be lucky or maybe people have garages which are cat proof. The little varmints often set off the car alarms for devilment, I have seen them do it. Stormy nights are the worst as they not only set off the car alarms but the burglar alarms also. And no, you don't have to be rich to have an alarm, we are getting one as soon as we move because of my deafness. Other Half does not want me to come back to an apparently empty house which actually has somebody clodhopping around in it!

The whole idea of an alarm, whether it be for a car or a house, is to act as a warning that something is wrong. The problem today is that nobody ever seems to pay any real attention. If people pass a house or car with the alarm going off, they tend to look from curiosity and continue on their way.

You are so right! If the wretched things only went off when something really was happeneing they would be much more effective! Maybe soon there will be a technological breakthrough and the alarm will be able to distinguish between a gust of wind, a cat's paw and a crowbar!

I love them, well just think someone might have been trying to steal the car. Gissi sets mine of when I leave him in the Car and nip into the Shop, it's funny, cause People are there saying, why can't they shut that Car Alarm of and I turn around and say "Because I am not loosing my Place in the Queue and my Dog will just set it of again" hehehehe the Faces are a Picture.

I can guess, and it is no fun, is it? I am lucky in that I can not hear most car alarms as they are outside of my hearing range. I am unlucky when I miss out on speech but it is nice to be able to sleep through them. Or I could if Other Half did not keep telling me how very annoying they were lol.
