im a videogame/computer geek. when i get home, i sit on my bed, with my laptop next to me, and i fire up guitar hero 2. thats what i do until around 11, when i got to bed. i do that almost everyday. but, i still manage to have a social life. does being a geek allow to have a social life?

if you surf all day I guess you are a geek to someone who lives in the jungle and has never seen a light bulb. I build computers and websites so I guess i'd be a geek to you but not to someone who can write binary language or at least pearl, java etc. In other words if you are 4 feet tall you will be a giant to 2 feet tall people but a dwarf to 7 feet tall people... lol.

Being a geek is relative to your area of "expertise" or indulgence. You can be an internet geek, a computer geek, a math geek, and so on and so forth. Some call it an "obsession" or being a "buff" on something, but in my view, you become a geek if your intellectual, social and emotional life revolves around that one thing. I'm a computer geek - the first thing I do on the internet is find the latest on and about computers and computing. Nothing completes my day like reading news about some development or failure of some kind of computer technology. I always make it a point to learn something new about computers every time I spend time on the internet. So yeah, I guess if you spend the whole day on the internet, one can call you an internet geek - that's from a perspective of someone who does not go online much. LOL!
