Most people today look at the first and second Bush administrations, but did our problems really start there? Take a look at some interesting facts concerning US involment with middle eastern countries. http://politics.guardian.co.uk/comment/story0,9115,942390,00.html http://www.globalsecurity.org/military/library/report/1993/WSK.htm What do you think.

The first real problems that I recall was when Carter was in office in the '70's, and Iran thought it would be a good idea to take some hostages. They wised up real quick and let them go right after Reagan took office.

Thanks for the post. For all those interested... Islam began in 610 as stated aboove with the prophet muhammed. According to history, which is now being questioned, america was discovered by Columbus in 1492. America's first hostile encounter with Islam was "The First barbary War" from 1801-1805.... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/first_barbary_war Thanks all who posted and read it. I appreciate the participation.

The USA has had a problem with Middle Eastern countries since practically the independence of the the Middle East. This didn't happen all at once, but when those states started to get their independence they began having problems with the West in general. The Middle East in general has had a problem with the western world since Islam was born though.

I think the 6 Day War in 1967 by Israel is a main source of trouble. The Israeli's occupied the West Bank ever since, and took the Gaza as well. At any rate the problems with Egypt started then (Gaza). The USA always were, and are, behind Israel, so there you go... Of course, ever since the founding of the state of Israel in 1948 there has been trouble. I don't think the islam had too much to do with it the centuries before and even then. It is easy to separate the good and the bad by religion, but the problems in the Middle East are caused by geo politics. and all the Jews in the Armageddon. And don't forget that it was the christian world that had a problem with the islam in those dark ages... remember the crusades!! By the Europeans. So called christian people, off to slaughter the muslims. Personally I think it it the Israelian politics and politicians that stir up a lot of troubles. The Israelian people just want a life of peace and friendship, just like the rest of us. There is also the case that in any chosen region, as soon as one country starts building up army power, the other countries around it will follow. Nobody wants to be the weakest... a matter of psychology.

there has always been a problem with the middle east, it really didn't get bad until "Guests of the Ayatolla" though. That's when things really got messed up.
