Are the auditions so far worthy of TELEVISION? C'mon, I love music and watching watching great singers compete, but this is just a waste of air time.

The other seasons were way better than this one. I don't know if it's because people just want to be on TV for the attention or there aren't enough good singers. I watch it for both and none on both teams have blown me away.

it seems every season is worse. i can't stand to watch simon being mean to people. there is enough mean people without adding him to the whole television world.

I've been watching American Idol since Season One, and now on Season Seven, I 100% agree with you. I used to always like to watch and laugh at the people making complete dummies of themselves, but now it seems they are showing FAR more of the non talent than the talented ones. I know that at the beginning of every season there are the horrible ones, but they used to also balance it out with the great ones too. Now it's like they show 20% talent, 80% HORRIBLE auditions. The judges are getting even more mean too. I used to think what Simon said was right on and funny, but now even he is taking it too far (laughing in a girl's face as soon as she walked in before she even opened her mouth). So anyways, my whole point is I agree with you :-). Luckily, we will be seeing more of the talented ones only in the weeks to come.

Our luck HAS changed... they've raised the bar on the talent. It's going to be a good competition. Glad the auditions are over. They should have started a little farther up the ladder than they did!

I don't know if you are a regular viewer. But today's show was just supposed to be some of the funnier (bad) ones with a few of the good ones. There have been lots of really good singers on. They always do this at the beginning to make people laugh.

I guess I tuned in last year toward the end of the series. I HAVE gotten some laughs of the auditions for sure, lol. It just seems like the weeding process is taking too long. On another side note, it must be really hard to audition a capella... I wonder if a guitar is allowed?

The auditions is so funny to watch, so it's worthy. With auditions we can watch a journey of a singer, I really like watch the auditions of american idol =)

It's not a waste of air time, if it is then Fox would have not bothered airing seasons 2-5. I think it's hilarious! and it helps discover some hidden talents in America. The auditions that they've so far shown, is the first round so it's no surpise that a lot of "terrible-singers" showed up. Just wait 'til the show progresses.

You're right, I've changed my mind! The auditions are over and the real talent has started to shine through and there are a lot of great singers to choose from! I still think "Simon" is rude. He told a young girl that not only was her singing "forgettable" but so was her hair and her clothes. He can make comments on her vocal abilities, but leave her personal appearance alone --she was a pretty girl.
