Yesterday, I buried my grandmother, who was also my best friend. It was the hardest thing I've ever been through. I'm only 23. I have so many years to wander this earth without her. How do you cope?

I'm sorry for your loss--I've lost a lot of my loved ones--my grandmom just before my 7th birthday; my grandmother at 13; my grandpop at 22; my granddad at 24; and my mother at 30. I don't know what I'd do without my dad--we are close and I'm such a Daddy's girl. It has taken me years to be able to speak of other family members without crying, but I still tear up talking about my mom (it was very sudden and the doctor said he felt he could cure her of her cancer two weeks before). It takes a long time to heal (it did with my grandparents); I think it becomes easier with time. Remember the happy times--I'm sure she doesn't want you to continue to cry over her.

I lost my sister about 6 months ago. It was definitely the hardest thing I've ever been through. I'm still in denial about it, so I can't really help you. I will tell you that time does help. You'll hear over and over again.."time heals all wounds." and at first you kind of just want to tell them to shut up, but you can't because you know they're just trying to help. but in reality, it's true. it's gotten a little easier over time, but i know I still have a long road ahead of me. You'll be alright.
