For Me, YES..and chocolates too:) ...some may find it so traditional and hey we're on the 21st century now, but then I find it really flattering and really sweet to receive chocolates and roses...and some more expensive presents (LOL) on valentines day. would you want to receive roses and chocolates this valentine's day???

And yet many people don't receive roses on Valentine's day. Especially because we're in a crisis :) I myself would like to give my girlfriend roses, though I doubt I could because the prices of roses skyrocket in February. And, she doesn't want one anyway. I believe being with the one you love is the greatest gift you could give that person on Valentine's day.

That's great of you Ismokk! I completely agree. Valentine's day isn't about roses or chocolates or anything else. It's about spending time with those closest to you.

Honestly.. not exactly... I know that I grew up in places where Valentine's wasn't even celebrated, so I suppose that might have something to do with it. However I have been here over 20 years and I probably could be used to it by now. I am.. but I feel that receiving something just because it's the day for it turns me off a bit. I love to receive roses, or chocolates, or both when there's no special reason for it, just because at some point in the day hubby remembered to buy them for me. To receive them on valentine's.. it's nice, but not more special than receiving them in any other day.

I kind of agree with you.... I like it when my husband thinks of me not just because it is a certain day but just because he wants to show he thought of me or he cares... However when he sent roses to me at work last year for our fourth anniversary I felt pretty special and loved that day! :)

it would be nice to receive a bouquet of flowers on valentine's day but i would rather receive them when it's least expected. my hubby isn't keen on giving flowers. he says it's unpractical since the flowers just wither after a few days. so when i actually receive flowers from him, that makes it a lot more special.

No it is not a big deal to receive a bunch of roses and chocolates well I cannot eat them any more so they are out for me. I used to grow roses and for my friends with their loved ones and those that had no money I would give them a bunch of roses all different colours they were to take home to their loved ones. So for me I am very happy to know that my husband loves me and shows me his love on Valentines Day,

I would love to recieve roses and chocolates on valentines day. I have never been given them before and I think it is a really romantic thing to do. However as I don't get to see my boyfriend very often, just being able to see him will be enough.

It would be a good surprise for me If I receive these things from my husband. But it's not that a big deal If I don't.My husband is not the kind of guy who likes surprising people. He just give me money so that I can buy what I really want.

It's really not a big deal if i dont receive any on valentines day but same with you, i find it really flattering to receive flowers on that day. I somehow get a tingling sensation when i receive flowers(whether simple roses or bouquet) even if it's just from a friend or an acquaintance.

For me, Yes, it would be a big deal for me. Especially for my husband because he is really not into flowers & chocolates. He have his own ways of expressing how he feels. He likes to do it himself instead of buying ready made cards, or buyingflowers. I remember, when we're still not married, he created a 3D card for me made out of diskettes and It's really one unique gift. But he seldom sends me flowers on valentine's day or even on other special occasions. So it would be a really big deal for me if he is sending me one.

I would love to receive something from my husband, whether it's on Valentine's, Christmas, our anniversary, my birthday or any other occasion or even non occasion but I actually prefer something more practical than flowers :). Flowers are very expensive especially on Valentine's and it just wilts in a few days. I'd rather get something that I can use or at least something that lasts longer than flowers. For me, what's really important is that he remembers. Come to think of think, even if I don't get anything except a greeting, that's already ok with me :D. But if I do get flowers, it's still very much appreciated and I would also be happy :).

I'm the same way, I would super appreciate it if my husband does give me flowers (or any gift) during these occassions. But being married now also means being able to look past these gifts and see the real gift that you have - that is your husband. Sometimes, I would remind my husband in advance.. like saying, 'wow, my birthday is next month', what do we do to celebrate?' But you know, I don't really mind if there were no super special celebration.. of it were just us having dinner.. spending quiet time together..

It's not a huge deal to me. My dh always sends me flowers and chocolates and sometimes a little bear. It makes me happy but it wouldn't be an end all if he didn't send me something. I liked it when I was working though and he sent me stuff. That was fun to get it at work.

In times like this, not anymore. We have to be practical. I will appreciate it more if my husband will hug and embrace me plus a breakfast in bed when I wake up on Valentine's day. For me that is more romantic.

A bouquet of red roses would surely brighten anybodys day, be it valentines or a regular day, much more on valentines day.

To be honest, me and the husband do not really celebrate valentines at all. It just hasn't been an important thing to us. However, I never say no to chocolate, so if any show up on that day I'm not going to complain. Just as I wouldn't if they showed up any other day :)

Well, it would be great if I receive flowers and chocolates (and/or other gifts) on Valentine's Day or any other occasion for that matter. BUT it's not really a big deal. It's the thought that counts (cliche, I know, but very, very true).

For me it's really important, some people will say that you should show you care throughout the year and not just on valentines day and while I agree with that when was the last time your significant other gave you a present just because?? Maybe when we were dating. It's impotant to show your partner you love and care about them. Can't wait for my flowers!! :)
