American Idol planting "extra" wacky people on the audition shows

I do enjoy American Idol but every season during these early audition rounds there are a few people who really don't seem genuine to me--either they are just so bad.. or weird.. and I get a feeling that FOX possibly finds these people to 'plant' them on these shows. I realize they pick certain people to actually be showcased on each episode, but I don't know, I just really think a few of these people are paid plants. What do you think? (remember: this is FOX we're talking about. haha)

I've heard a lot of people claiming that Red, from the Seattle auditions was a plant. I knew him when I lived in Seattle. He wasn't a plant. He's the real deal. I can only speak for that one, but knowing that and knowing how desperate people are for their five minutes of fame, I believe they're all legitimate.

Red was pretty amusing :) Seattle had SO MANY weirdos at the auditions though, much more than the other cities I thought. Much to my surprise. hahaha

Well, that was pretty standard fair for Seattle. :D

I think that too sometimes ..I mean how can anybody that sings like some of them do ever expect to be on idol or even come close to winning ... I think the show is funny to watch ...but I can only handle so much of it ..I don't think I have ever watched a whole show from start to finish ...

I don't think they necessarily have to pay them to be plants. I think that by now, people know what's what with American Idol and know what type of things they're looking for to put on tv. I think there's probably a good number of people who now go to the auditions not to actually be the amazing singer/get to hollywood, but who go specifically with an act and attitude and intentionally bad routine so Simon can say some good line at them which will guarantee they'll appear on your tv screens as an example of 'how could they?' People who just want to have that 20 seconds of tv exposure are probably doing it intentionally, and no one has to pay them. Either so they can work it in their favour, or just to have that brief moment on the international stage.

For sure not all of these people think they are the "next American Idol" or even that they sing good at all!! I think lots of them just either want to be on t.v. for their 15 minutes of fame or that they want to be discovered for something else, like: juggling, comedy shows, dancing...stuff like that...pretty much everything other than singing! They may be planted by American Idol so make it funny and entertaining but I think a lot of them just come on their own free will!

Oh, I know most of them come on their own.. but I dunno, a few of 'em make me suspicious :)
