Patent gives the inventer the right to prevent others from producing or using the inventor's invention for a limited period of time.It protect the discoveries of inventors.patents are issued for four general types of inventions or discoveries machines, human made products, compositions of matter, and processing methods.patents were normally issued for a non-renewable period of seventeen years, measured from the date of issuance.Is this law is good or not.I think in some sense it is good.It has a negative side also.Taking patent for certain agricultural product is not good.For example Basumathi rice.If some one take patent for it means,no farmer can cultivate it in the farm.I heard a news that a German company is trying to take patent for Gayathri mantras.I think some traditionl item or agricultral product should be excluded from it.
