Do you think that drinking lots of water is bad for you? Apparently is will dissolve all your sugars and other things that need balance to keep you healthy; plus you will keep going to the toilet constantly. What do you think of this issue and should you just stick with the norm and drink around about 1-2 litres a day? SHould you drink it all in one go? Or set periods throughout the day?

Every day you lose water through your breath, perspiration, urine and bowel movements. For your body to function properly, you must replenish its water supply by consuming beverages and foods that contain water. A couple of approaches attempt to approximate water needs for the average, healthy adult living in a temperate climate. Replacement approach. The average urine output for adults is 1.5 liters a day. You lose close to an additional liter of water a day through breathing, sweating and bowel movements. Food usually accounts for 20 percent of your total fluid intake, so if you consume 2 liters of water or other beverages a day (a little more than 8 cups) along with your normal diet, you will typically replace the lost fluids. Dietary recommendations. The Institute of Medicine advises that men consume roughly 3.0 liters (about 13 cups) of total beverages a day and women consume 2.2 liters (about 9 cups) of total beverages a day. Even apart from the above approaches, it is generally the case that if you drink enough fluid so that you rarely feel thirsty and produce between one and two liters of colorless or slightly yellow urine a day, your fluid intake is probably adequate.

Yes, I heard if you drink too much it flushes out all your bodys electrolytes. That's why they say to drink something like Gatorade after running or working out because it replenishes the electrolytes.

According to an article that I have just read a while ago our kidney can process up to 15 liters of waters a day, so it means you can take water much but not in just one time and because most of foods contain water the recommended amount of water is just 8-12 ounces of water per day unless the climate is warm, or you're into exercising, and into medication that requires more water than usual. Water intoxication as it said is uncommon but can happen. For more information follow the link: http://chemistry.about.com/cs/5/f/blwaterintox.htm

My doctor always advises me to drinking at least 8 glasses of water each day. The reason is our bodies need plenty of water to clean our kidneys. On the contrary, if we drink too little water daily, some kind of residue may accumilate in our kidneys which may cause serious problem. My doctor didn't tell me the drawback of drinking too much water. But I find out that too much water in stomach may cause me go to wash room incessantly.

Well I think drinking eight glasses of water a day is sufficient. Even the health consultants advise drinking 8 glasses of water daily. Any less it harms you in the long run and a lot of intake could do the same.

nature's rule to be healthy is - excess of anything is bad! we need atleast 8 glasses of water everyday, those who are very active/sweat a lot, workout or sports-persons need even more! excess water can be harmful for people having the problem of water retention- a condition where water is retained in the body as toxin and not flushed out through the kidneys! dont know much medical details about it.. am just a layman!

Water is good for the body. About 8 glasses per day is enough. I think you just had too much water when you feel bloated after drinking. Remember, too much of anything isn't good at all. =)
