Does your Cat get Electric in Winter??

When the indoor air is dry, we all experience how static electricity affects the furry animals.
I had that problem with my cat many years ago so I thought maybe the softener that takes away static electricity from clothes could be used. So I took some of the liquid and mixed it with water, poured it into a spraybottle and sprayed all the textiles at home.
It really helped - the cat was not electric any more.
Perhaps it could be good to use a softener without perfume.

Hi there...using a humidifier is the best way to remove static electricity from the air when we pet our cats. Anytime you use a dryer sheet they contain chemicals ingredients which can be toxic to a cat because when they groom (wash) themselves they lick the dryer sheet chemicals and ingest (swallow) this.

Thank you both, a humidifier must be the best solution in this case. If I get a cat, I have to buy that. It must be good for humans too.:o)

I used to use dryer sheets on them. Rub their fur and it helped. But now I have a humidifier on my furnace and that has solved the problem. If you can't put one on your furnace you can get a free standing unit. It really helps put moisture back into the air and no more shocking cats.
