Hey guys, the issue of violence against women really bothers me. Its very prevelant in our country and lots of international and national organizations are trying to fight it, however, we do not have legislation to protect women against violence. The police consider domestic violence, for example, as domestic family affairs and they claim that they don't want to step into the domestic sphere. Even when womwn have the courage to go and report violence, which happens rarely, they're told to go back home and to be obedient to their husbands, can you believe it?!!!!!!!!!The situation has improved a little but its still bad. It really shatters me to hear and see victims of domestic violence cause I've been in their shoes once. I was engaged to a police officer who used to beat the hell out of me. It was awful, he broke my nose once and I was going to die several times between his hands. This experience has scared me forever, but I was strong enough to over come it. Sometimes, I still remember what used to happen and I get depressed but it just takes a while and then I regain my strength and forget it again. Tell me, what do you think of this issue? Is violence against women prevelant in your country? Do you have any legislation to protect women against violence?
