I avoid looking in the mirror. Isn't that awful to say that but its true. When I was 30 I'd gladly look in the mirror cause I liked what I saw. Now I'm 40 and I feel totally different. I have gained so much weight and my skin is terrible. After I had my daughter when I was 31 I suffered from post partum depression and all the medications caused me to gain weight. So nope I don't even peek if I don't have to.

omw ...dont think that ...every woman is beautiful , maybe not the same kind of beautiful you used to look like -go and sit infront of the mirror and look at your self ,run a bath ,light sum candles and see how quick you change your mind .you can also make a list of stuff you would like to acheve with your body ( ps i have had 2 kids in 3 yrs i know what depression is ):) Em

What counts is what is on the inside and if we were never able to look in the mirror again we would still be the same person. What you will see if you take a look is a mother who is loved and that is the best thing on earth!!! Thanks.

I usually look in the mirror the most when I'm trying to do my hair, so my first thought then is "how does my hair look?", lol! But other times I look in the mirror just to try to get a handle on my appearance. I know that I'm not beautiful, but I try to smile and do other things into the mirror to get an idea of how other people might perceive me, and how I look when I make certain expressions. But really, I don't have any great love of looking in the mirror. I do find that I need to look into one when I pass it, but I think that's more my obsessive compulsive habits coming into play than anything else, because I don't think that I'm anything great to look at, lol!

I do this as well. I am sure alot of people do. It's definately a way of seeing how we come across to other people. What I find interesting is how other people look different in the mirror. Their features look more distorted than when I look at them normally. Thanks for your comments!!

I usually look into it, and am totally horrified by how tired I look! Since I hit 40,I've really noticed how I look much more tired, and "drawn" without make-up, and as I start work at 6.30am every morning, my first glance in tbe mirror at about 5.30am is a bit of a shock to the system! It does get a bit better as the day goes on though!!!

My first thought is that I am getting old. Of course I usually only look in the mirror first thing in the morning when I am definitely not at my best. Love you zippy avatar BTW.

In our bedroom we have full length mirrors on the closet doors which take up almost the whole wall - so when I get up in the morning, the first thing I see is my own image, full size, unadorned, and unavoidable. Not a pretty sight, I assure you! I hated the sight at first, but to be honest now I find it quite useful, and automatically give myself the once-over a couple of times a week - you know, check out the flab (or "relaxed muscle", as I like to call it!) to see if there is any more of it, and check for any changes like lumps and blemishes, etc. Quite seriously, I do find it useful for early detection - and at least it keeps me aware of my body and it's foibles. Yeah, I know - far too much information...........but you did ask! Hehe.

I look in the mirror when I'm getting ready to go out, mainly looking for faults and if there's anything I can do to correct them before I go out.

Oh I look in the mirror all the time - and in shop windows and car windows - even the back of spoons! Not because I think I look great - quite the opposite. I'm always wondering if my hair looks ok, is my make up still where it should be, do I look fat ..... the madness never ends! The older I get the worse it gets because now I also have to consider the grey hairs and the lines that just appear overnight!

lol Sometimes I will go all day without looking in the mirror. I agree with you. We do need to look to check ourselves, sometimes we can walk around with smudged make-up, a piece of food stuck between our teeth and no one will say anything!! I always tell the person but people do not always tell me!! Thanks

Lately, I am becoming increasingly aware of my age. *insert frown here*. I notice the graying hair, the fine lines around the eyes, and the doubling chin! After I see that, I try to remind myself that at least I have life...the alternative would be terrible and I make myself smile!

Great way to look at life!!! Thanks :o)
