Okay this is a hypthetical question. The United States is in conflict. President Bush has turned our country into a dictatorship, Which starts a civil war. Do you side with the goverment or with you fellow American?
If you side with the government, your fellow American's might kill you and if they win you'll be stuck in a dictatorship.
If you side with the American people the government will call it Treason, you might be killed, but if the American people when you will get your freedom back.
Which side do you choose?
I stick with the American people in this situtation.

I voted for George W. Bush both times. I think that, when it comes to this war, he's made some serious mistakes, but I don't think he's shaping up to be a dictator.
Russell isn't quite so generous with our President as I am, as you'll be able to see right off by some of the items on his website:
http://www.freewebs.com/russellonline/
What I do see, however, is somebody getting desperate to correct his mistakes and making bigger ones in the process.
In other words, I think his heart's in the right place but he's like this little girl in a story I read when I was a kid.
This little girl had a beautiful dress made for her by her mother.
She wanted to try it on, but her mom told her to wait until she needed it for something special so that it would remain nice.
The reason for this was that she had a habit of being careless with her clothes.
One day, her mom had gone somewhere, and she thought this would be a good time to go up and at least look at the dress.
No harm in that.
So, she opened the bedroom closet and admired it for awhile--until she decided that it wouldn't do any harm to reach out and touch it.
This led to her taking it down from the clothing rod so that she could have an even better look at it.
Then, she decided that it wouldn't do any harm just to try it on.
She carefully put it on herself and admired her reflection in the mirror.
And here is where she got to be something like our President with this war.
She felt like such a princess in this dress that she began waltzing around the room.
And, then, it happened...
She heard a short ripping sound.
Oops!
She had managed to get the sleeve of her dress caught on something.
She took it off and examined the rip.
Not too bad...perhaps, it she just smoothed it down a little--but smoothing it down made the rip open up even more.
Then, she heard her mom letting herself in downstairs, so she hurried up to replace it on its hanger--causing it to rip even more--and put it into a back part of the closet.
Out-of-sight, out-of-mind.
Then, the day came that she had gotten involved to this wonderful party where the parents of one of her friends had decided to take several kids out to lunch at this really nice restaurant.
It would be the little girl's first grown-up party.
Her mom mentioned to her that it was a good thing that she'd kept her new dress for something nice, because this would be a fitting place to wear it.
Instead of coming clean with her mom, she didn't say anything.
The day of the party arrived, and she put on her new dress.
Of course, it had a huge hole in it, so there was no way that she could wear it to the party--so she didn't get to go.
Anyway, I think that, like this little girl, our President keeps trying to correct his mistakes and ends up making worse and worse ones.
This is very unfortunate.
If he did turn into a dictator, however, the fact that he was President would take a back seat to my values and what this country stands for.
Let's hope that nothing like this ever happens...

I did answer the question--though I guess it kinda got lost in my longer story...
I said that the authority of the President (or any other elected official, for that matter) would always take a back-seat to what was right for the country.
Otherwords, I would rebel against a dictatorship, even knowing that I could get charged with treason and executed.

Would have to say always side with the people. We all know that the government is not really for us anymore. Personally am glad we have a militia alive in this country. Hope they can keep their independence and therefore viability. Have always said that they cannot put all of us in jail!!!
