What is the most difficult aspect of menopause for you? How do you deal with mood swings, hot flashes, night sweats, light-headedness etc.? I am mostly through the whole process, but am still struggling with some of these issues, among others. I am not on hormone replacement therapy, as it's not the best thing for me.

I take black cohosh root, evening primrose oil, vitamin e, soy isoflavins. They help me with my mood swings. I have night sweats and occasional hot flashes. There really seems to be no magic cure for those. I have read that even when your menstrual cycle stops you can still experience hot flashes and night sweats for several years. That was something that I really didn't want to know myself. Good luck to you.

Thanks ElusiveButterfly for my first response on myLot. My cycle stopped a couple of years ago, and I suffered horribly with one hotflash after another, as well as night sweats afterwards. I recently found out (the hard way) that yeast infections are also common in post menopausal women. They're caused (according to my Dr.) by the decrease in estrogen.

Thanks for your response. I'm not on HRT, so am hoping that I'm going to be coming to the end of all of this before too long. Glad you made it through.

Worst thing for me is the incredible tiredness, and the fact that I tend to burst into tears for no reason. I am also quite forgetful, which I never was before. I take a herbal supplement called Maca. They gave me HRT, but I refused to take it. I am just eginning to go through it now so not eraly many hot flushes yet, but I'm sure they will come!!!

Hi and welcome to mylot. I myself had surgical menopause due to a hysterectomy for cervical cancer. I took a lot of vitamins for menopause and herbal supplements. I think the mood swings and hot flashes were the worst!
Welcome again to mylot!
