Do you have a tattoo?

would you get one if you don't? Some people point out that tattoos look nice while we're young but won't be as attractive when we age. Others point out to the fact that they are too permanent, what if they don't like it anymore a few years down the road? What do you think?

I have four tattoos, all my own artwork. I was in my late 40's when I had my dragon done and now, age 55 years young, I love my tattoos and am thinking of having another one once I have got the artwork done. You do have to think very carefully before having a tattoo and I would never have anyone's name done.

I know what you mean.. I"m afraid when I think tattoos what comes to mind first it that old obnoxious neighbor with "mother" tattooed on is arm LOL WE used to be scared of him as kids - not because of the tattoo :) - and that tattoo got stuck in my head forever. Nowadays we see more and more tattoos done with wonderful taste and beautiful artwork.

Yes I have a tattoo. I have had it for 10 years (in April) it is a sun on my right ancle. I really like it. Well to the fact that tattoos are too permanent. Yes they are , but if you in like 10-20 years find out that you do not want it you can remove it by laser.

laser to remove it. Would it be something expensive though? THat makes it much less permanent though ? Maybe something to consider as well. THanks :)

I don't have a permanent tattoo, but we went on vacation last summer and I got four Hinnah tattos , one on my lower back , one on my ankle , one my wrist, one on my upper right side of my back/shoulder .They looked really nice , they lasted 2 months , then fadded, That way I'm not stuck with the tattoo , and when I grow up I don't have to explain to my kids why they can't have a tattoo.LOL

I've heard of Hena tattos.. I think that option appeals to me a bit more, maybe I will try it. Thanks for your answer :)

I don't have one yet, but I am hoping to get one this year. Well five actually..they're individual scales, which I'm hoping to have on my right shoulder blade..so that I can add onto them as the years pass. I'm not so much concerned as to what they'll look like when I'm eighty, who knows how long we'll all live anyway? They're there to remind me I do have happiness..that things aren't totally terrible all the time. Their meaning means more to me than what they look like..though yes..I really don't want the tattoo to be a terrible one whilst I'm still young lol. *laughs at the contradiction*

^_^ Yeah, I don't blame ye much about the pain thing. I've kinda gotten used to pain though..which is why the idea of the needle creating the art on my skin doesn't bother me. Some of the best things in life are originally painful..take having children! But that's one extreme I'd prefer not to go to lol..that probably hurts alot worse than tattoos lol.

LOL I don't know, having children was pretty easy to my, so I don't think I can compare hehe I think the major thing is that I have a problem with needles, even the tattoo kind. If it's a needle I panic :) I made my mom and the nurses run after me for almost a block just to get my vaccines once LOL

Well I like the concept behind your choice, and it is true that we never know for how long we'll be here. I like to see some tattoos and sometimes I think I would like to have one, but not strongly enough to ignore any pain that can come from having them done hehehe

I do not have tattoo beccause I am afraid of the pain during the process, also because it is a permanent thing, I do not want to regret later but cannot remove it, it may also damage my skin..

someone commented about a henna tattoo that is not as permanent. I think maybe I would start from there :) At least if I didn't like it after a while I knew it wouldn't be there forever .

No, I don't have real tattoo. But like henna tattooes I've tried it and its cool. It looks real though for a week or two it slowly fades until is fully gone. I think nowadays there is a way to remove a tattoo even if it is permanent. Maybe they can just do that.

I Like the henna ones too, and I can always change them if I want to.. after all they don't stay for that long :) I saw a program on tv about removing permanent tattoos with laser, but it said it can take as long as 3 years to get it all done, and it is quite expensive. They were talking about an average of 2,000 dollars.

I have several tattoos and would never want to get rid of them, they cost a little fortune, although when I get older I may have to get them touched up slightly as they fade with time. If they don't like their tattoo a few years down the road, then they will have to spend some more money getting them removed and this totally defeats the whole point of having a tattoo in the first place

SO I suppose the answer is that we need to get something we really like. I didn't know about getting them touched up but it makes sense. Thanks for your answer :)

I have three tattoos and I love all of them. I don't think they'll bother me when I'm older. I see them all day every day, it's just part of my skin now.

Yes that makes sense they really are part of your skin. I think tattoos are now quite different from what they were many years ago... people are not getting mother tattooed on their arms as much anymore. Instead there are very pretty tattoos done with excellent taste.

I have a tattoo on my right ankle that says Free Spirit. I thought hard about getting it, but knew there are lasers out there to remove it if I wanted it removed. Which I don't. I've had it for 7 years. I also thought about getting older, but I figured I'd be the cool elderly lady with the tattoo on my ankle!

I have 5 tattoos and I don't regret them at all. Each one has meaning and stands for something that took place or that I felt at that time in my life and its something I will have forever and I'm ok with that.
