I am going to prove that religion is illogical. People who claim that they are logically religious or that they are religious because of logic are also illogical. for debating purposes, please do not bring god into this debate. god and religion are 2 different things. I am going to prove that they are different first. If you know that they are different, you may move on. SOME Factors of religion: Jesus as the son of god, in human form profits who claim they talk to god magical things or "miracles": profits do like put their face on the moon (Muhammad) walk on water (Jesus) separate the ocean (Moses) etc etc. SOME factors of god (non accumulative): omnipotence? being? existence? creator? time? beginning/end? etc etc. okay, so now we know that they are different, there are no arguments their. now, for the main part, proving logic and religion cannot work together. definitions of logic: analyzing inference critical thinking Sound reasoning and the formal laws of reasoning non-contradictory identification the science of evaluating arguments laws of logic: 1) Law of Identity (A is A) 2) Law of Non-Contradiction (A cannot be ~A) 3) Excluded Middle (B can be either A or not ~A). 1) the bible say jesus will come back, the koran the profit of time will come back (immame zaman, shia belief), both dont go with the first law 2) Bible/Koran/Torah (and most writings): lots of contradictions http://www.infidels.org/library/modern/jim_meritt/bible-contradictions.html http://www.answering-islam.de/Main/Quran/Contra/ http://www.chabad.org/library/article.asp?AID=112226 http://jewishphilosopher.blogspot.com/2007/01/contradictions-within-torah.html 3) jesus cant be god and human there are many more arguments i can make, but these should do fine for the moment. thanks! and bring on the debates!

Wow! very interesting statements. interesting indeed. In just one simple sentence you dismissed millions of books worldwide by scientists, physicists, academicians, nuclear physicists, astronomers, Doctors of Thelogy and related subjects who are religious people as illogical. As simple as that. Unfortunately, this forum will not suit that purpose. Profound subjects can be dealt with in a much wider forum. I wonder what will your arguments be. Since you remove God in the picture, you made it even more logical. What is illogical in a person exercising his freedom to believe in a religion that meets his spiritual needs. Tell me.

well this is a very broad topic and there are about a gazillion points to consider, if we are going to put in the argument each individual religion and their basic practices. but to make things simpler, logic and religion do not really go together, simply because logic focuses modes of reasoning viewed as valid or faulty, and analogy is such an important factor. religion however, is simply about faith. people believe their religion no matter how illogical they might be because they have faith in it. religion and god are obviously different but interrelated because there's religion because of god and peoplebelieve in god because of their religion. and bythe bay, i think you'retalking about "prophets", not profits. peace out.
