I think mylot would attract more sign-ups if they would allow members to post in their native language, or perhaps have a special section for different languages. Members then would be relax and confident in answering discussions. I say this because I often see wrong spelling of words and sad to say even grammars. Including me sometimes. lol

I think maybe a spell checker should be added. I can see the benefits but a huge proportion of people on here are Indian and other nationalities... a very biased opinion but if everyone uses their own language there wont be very many of us left posting in english! No offence meant to anyone but as I am only able to post in english thats my opinion LOL

I know what you mean. That english is the main language to use. But my idea is like this. You can still response in english if you'll go to the section for other language discussion. Why? Because, they are obliged to put the discussion title in english! But they are allowed to use whatever language they want. So everyone can post. See how simple.

that may be a good idea since many may feel more comfortable expressing ideas in their native tongue (and maybe that can make people put more valuable discussions in here). only this might limit the relationship between people of different nationalities since speakers of other languages might just concentrate on discussions in their own language. so we don't know what they're writing or saying, and maybe they would not bother to read the english discussions any more, since they have their own. i think it's a good thing that mylot gives us the opportunity to hear out what people from other cultures have to say, even if some might have difficulty in freely expressing in english.

That was my first thinking too. Everybody who have difficulties in the English language can choose to go to a section where thay can response using their native language. That way, they can be more expressively share their thoughts. I don't think the english language section will die. There's a big percentage of the members that will still be active on it.

Well I think perhaps different sections for different languages would be a great idea, but I also feel there are a lot of people benefitting from using the English language. I've seen many posts about how their english has improved just from being on this site. It doesn't bother me when I see mistakes in spelling and grammar as I realize a lot of people using this site do not speak english as their first language.

I agree with on english improvement. Before I don't use our dictionary in our house. But now it is always besides me when I'm busy answering here at mylot.

I don't think it's a good idea. It is better if we talk in only one language so everybody would understand. And with regards with the spelling and grammar, it's ok to make mistakes as long as we understand what someone's is trying to say. And besides this way we can practice the international language... English...
