What did you play when you were a kid?

My favourite game as a boy was 'High Jimmy Knacker'!
This was a game we used to play in the school playground. One boy would stand with his back to the wall, normally the smallest, then each boy would bend over and tuck there head between the legs of the boy in front making a long snake like line of backs. The other team boy by boy, would take a run up and jump as far as they could up the line of backs. If they could collapse the boys as they jumped on them the team would have a second shot!
I suppose now that would not be allowed these days in case any of the children got hurt!
Sounds a little rough but I thoroughly enjoyed it as I did most rough games as a child.

Hehe I remember playing a lot of rough playground games as a kid. Our meanest one was probably "peg" which was hacky sack where you got "pegged" with the hacky sack if you dropped it while playing.
My favorite game, though, was a rather morbid one. We called it "Who was I?" and what it involved was going to the cemetary, finding a very old tombstone, and making up stories about the person buried there. Essentially whoever's story was most interesting won.

I played hide and seek a lot with my brothers and friends. I even joined their football games whenever I could. One of the neighbor kids asked me how come I played so good. I didn't know why I just played. I hated playing board games with my brothers since I lost most of the time, but strangely if I played with other kids I won most of the time LOL my brothers must have cheated !

We played a similar game, but we all sat on the ground with our legs out in front of us and we had to jump over as many pairs of legs as possible. I hated when I was the last in the line, as I was most likely to have my legs jumped on. We used to come home from school every day with lots of bruises and cuts on our legs, not to mention the pain. That game was also banned from the playground.

We played alot of "Red Rover" teams had to hold hands and lined up across from eachother at least 30ft of more so you could get a good run at the other team. We took turns calling over an opposing team member who ran like the wind and tried to break the chain of the other team . If they got through, they had their choice of who to take back to their team, if they did not break the chain they had to stay with that team.

Sounds horrible to me! LOL! The only one I remember clearly, was when all the girls would stand in a row, and the "caller" weould shout out a leter. You then had to take a step forward for every time that letter appeared in your name, and the one who got furthest was the winner! Strange - huh? Maybe I remember it because I often used to win........ my original Polish surname, and Russian middle name, meant I always had "unusual" letters in my name like "z" and "w" that not so many other people had, so I could get further than the others! LOL!
