i consider mercy killing by doctors sinful because the word of God says thou shalt not kill. why can't our doctors continue to manage the health of those whose lives are being snuffed out of them until they die naturally?

Medical science has its limitations they cannot perform miracles. Mercy killing is justifiable, in certain cases because the person who is undergoing treatment can never be freed of the clutches of the disease, and the only alternative for a painless killing lies in mercy killing.

I know for me and my husband we have talked on this and if anything ever happened to us I don't want to be kept alive, just turn off the machines and end my suffering and he feel's the same way. For some they want to be kept alive because they might wake up or something might change were they can go back to there normal life. I understand both. I think that a doctor has no right to make the decision it should be up to the family and the doctor should respect there wishes. I know if I was a doctor I couldnt make that decision for someone elses loved one.

Actually the word used isn't kill, but murder. They're not the same thing. I don't think doctors are going around snuffing out lives willy-nilly. And in fact many times they go too far in artifically trying to prolong a life that is effectively over. In cases where the patient is suffering and does not want to continue, I think the choice should belong to them.

I don't think anyone has the right to pass judgment until they are in the position themselves, would you like to watch as a loved one suffered and lived in pain everyday? do you think thats what god wants? I believe we are the only ones in that can decide our own fate, and if we make that choice then so be it
