Does bad publicity help a film to become a hit?

Frankly i don't believe so. Though publicity good or bad helps to increase curiosity about the film which may translate in help the film get a good intial ,start but in long run film has to run on it's performance whether ist is good or bad decides it's fate. what do you say?

There are all kind of peoples in the society so those peoples who like to watch those movies may get it to make it a hit..............
