Has anyone experienced downloading screen savers thier computer gets viruses

I have noticed that when there are free downloads for beautiful screen savers if you try to download them there are many viruses attached to them I have tried it anyone experienced the same, those who have not tried dont try to download those the viruses affect the interent connection and the connection also stops, Please share your views on this
