Would you buy these diamonds?

There seems to be a growing phenomenem. It's lab "grown" diamonds that are even fooling experts as to if they are real or not because they're also made with carbon like the real ones. The ones in a lab take just hours versus years from the ground. Because they are made in a lab, they can control how many flaws or lack thereof that a diamond has. They are currently running about 15% less in price than normal ones. If only 1 out of 5 experts can currently tell which is real and which is fake, would YOU buy one of these for your special someone and not tell them? Would you even buy one in the first place?

Being a man I would have no need at all to buy diamonds, I'm never getting married so I would never buy a ring with a diamond and I would never wear diamonds as jewellery because the jewellery I wear is gold. I suppose if the price was a lot difference and you couldn't tell the difference then I would see an attraction in others buying them.

UNlike cubic zirconium, this is actually a diamond. It's just been artificially grown - kind of like genetically engineered corn. it's made from the same "ingredients" and the crystals are grown in a controlled environment to control flaws. personally, I think flaws are what make diamonds unique. However, what it takes to GET a real diamond is NOT worth it! It involves SLAVE LABOR in impoverished countries, and mining ruins the environment. So for that, I'd rather buy an industrial "grown" diamond than exploit others for my diamonds.

Nope, I sure wouldn't. I'm allergic to everything and I can't even wear my wedding ring. I love jewelry so much, too...

Depending on what kind of reaction you have or how you are allergic to jewelry, there is some ways around being able to wear them. My mom is horribly allergic to anything less than pure 24k gold, and can almost never wear earrings. Rings are bad. So what she does is paint the part of the jewelry that would touch her skin (ie: the inside of the ring band) with clear fingernail polish and let it dry. It creates a barrier between that piece of jewelry and her skin and then she can wear stuff! It's worth a try!

I would PREFER one of these diamonds to the real thing. I haven't seen blood diamond the film yet but it seems that many diamonds cause wars, exploitation etc so why would you want to contribute to that??

If they are that much cheaper, why not? I like diamonds and my husband spoiled me rotten with a beautiful diamond ring for our 25th anniversary. Just think he could have spent 15% less and no one would know the difference!

I love jewellery, and I adore diamonds, so - yes, I can't see any reason why I wouldn't buy one for myself, or a loved one! Of course, I would prefer it if someone bought one for me though:-))
