In some countries this the a known fact.Sons are given more love and attention than daughters. Do you think it is a harmless practice? Is this the condition in your country too?

May be what you are saying was true in the last century. As the mother herself is a female you cannot expect her to hate her daughter. But i think the rule of the opposites work out well in today's life. Mothers love sons and Fathers love their daughters. Also sons feel free to speak to their moms while daughters feel free to speak to their dads. But i dont think sons are given more love than to daughters.

i agree that in most urban educated families this is not true.but my friend you know rural population is much more than urban population in India ,and in most of the villages of northern india this is the prevalent situation as we can read and see in newspapers and on tv.Do you think they are false facts? I wish it were.

Yes this trend is there in india but i am happy that it is fast changing. I myself have two daughters and all my love is for them and we have no plans to take another chance.

My parents don't love me more or less than my brother. We are loved the same. In the United States I think that some people love daughters more and some love sons more and some love them equally. I have 2 sons and I love them so much. If I had a daughter I would love her the same as my sons. I have found though that you love your children the same, just in different ways. I don't think it's good to love any of your children less than the others. I think it brings low self esteem to the child and a sense of worthlessness. I also think that child will act out more because they think they have to get your attention more.

well i may say that some are like that. because even here in the philippines it happened. but i think they are only few. i know that parents love all their children. maybe it depends on what kind of parents a family have. for me, it's not a good practice because parents should treat their children fair.
