Why are people so fascinated by celebrities?

I see it all the time. What is it about celebrities that have people falling all over them. I saw one post the other day that said 'if celebrities drink coffee than it must be good for you'. Are you kidding me? What is it? Why do we care how Angelina Joli felt when she turned 30? Didn't People magazine ask me? I would have had something to tell them if they did. And don't even get me started on Paris Hilton. Socialite? Try spoiled brat. Why do we keep giving her attention? Are our own lives so empty we have to fill it with the trite of people who make fools of themselves? Am I ranting? Perhaps. There are few and far between who actually do some good. I know I get tired of hearing about Oprah, but I suppose she is one who deserves her fame. But come on, seriously folks.
