My name is not very common but it seems to be used more frequently in the past few years. My name is Carissa

My best friend from college named her daughter Carissa...I love that name.

My name isn't rare or unusual, but I gave an unusual one to my oldest daughter. I named her 'Amity' (which is French for friendship.) Most people tell her how much they like her name. I do get a few though who think I named her for the movie 'Amityville Horror', or 'Jaws' (which has the town of Amity.) I didn't...she was born many years before either of those movies ever came out. She's probably thanking her lucky stars she wasn't born a male because the name we had picked out was 'Thane.'

I also love unusual and unique names. My name is Elisa...it is very simple, really. Lisa with the long E sound in the front. Nobody had this name when I was growing up, but I have met a few people with the name in my adult years. I hated it growing up because nobody could pronounce it right, but now I kind of like it. It's unusual and nice.
I named my kids Chayton and Gyllian. Chayton is a Sioux Indian name and Gyllian is just a name we heard and loved it. We pronounce it G like goat.
