I want to learn more about fine art, where should i start?

I would like to learn more about fine art. I have gone to a couple of museums lately and realize even though I am familiar with the artist (I am a history fanatic) I really know very little about art. Where should I start? Does any artist have any suggestions for me? Thanks in advance :-)
