Stop lifting like you are a young man.

My wife tells me to be more responsible when I lift and stop lifting like I am twenty years old. I agree with her (really) but once I get in the weight room, I lose control and start pounding heavy weight. I ultimately end up injuring my shoulder from pushing too much weight. I am addicted to lifting heavy weights! Does anyone else have this problem?

Lifting weights can be dangerous if you do not have proper training for it. I was doiung the same thing before until I popped a muscle at my right triceps. It was the most painful thing I had ever experienced. I could not even lie down on my back for days and I have to visit a chiropractor. It's better to go to a gym when you're beginning to lift weights.

I am a lifetime athlete and personal trainer. I am an expert in the field but I cannot stop pushing so hard. I am driven to keep pushing the weights higher and higher. My last bench press was over 400 pounds and I feel like I failed if I cannot push it heavier. My best bench was 425 pounds when I was 35 (2 years ago). I do not practice what I preach!
