Well God is a omnipotent beign, can't you see that an ALL powerful being NEED us to serve him, pray to him, tell him about our problems (after all he is only omniscient, all knowing). He is also omnijealous, so you better serve him, or else... (just kidding, I don't believe in the existence of any deity).

I am the mother of five wonderful sons. They were very obedient as children. If I told them to do things, they did them. Certainly, I was happy to have obedient children, and let me assure you they were also very happy children. What do you think gave me more pleasure: their obedience, or their willing, voluntary offer of help? How do you think I felt when one of my sons came and told me to go and sit down; he would finish what I was doing? I know it is a very poor and incomplete illustration, but don't you think it pleases God when His children voluntarily and willingly serve Him? NO. We do NOT do God a favour by serving Him, NOR do we do ourselves a favour. He does US a favour by allowing us the privilege of serving Him. Serving Him is the biggest blessing in life, but it is only because of His work IN us that He is able to work THROUGH us. I have known, loved and served my living, loving heavenly Father for 48 of my 70 years and I thank and praise Him for such a wonderful privilege. I do not serve Him because I MUST serve Him but because I WANT to serve Him.

its not really a somekind of favor..or vice versa...what God really wants is that we as human and rest of HIs creation must coexists in this world.. and how we are going to that...by loving one another as brothers and sisters in Christ...sharing, and loving our enemies for that matter...how can we served God?? its through the kindness we shown to our neighbors and loving of our families norturing them to grow as a fully matured individual...evangelizing the word of God so that others may know Him and be saved..

God does not require us to serve Him. It is only up to us wither we would serve Him or not. Actually it is God who served us and is continually serving us. Mark 10:45 says," For even the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and to give His life as a ransom for many." His dying on the cross was His eternal service to us, fallen men.So what would we do to recompense His service to us?

No; we are not ... That is what He expects us to do. God must be served because He is our Creator!

If we see God as a loving Father, we can understand that obeying him is for our own good. God is not in need of anything, he is the one who has given us all we have, but as far as we can understand from the Holy Bible, he appreciates when we are greatful for the good things he has given us, and try to learn how to live the way he has planned for us human beings. According to his Word we can actually make him happy by doing it and sad if we donĀ“t want to follow his advice. We were created with a free will because God wants us to use it when we make a choice if we want to obey him.
